After watching some videos online I finally ordered some of these nipples and bought some PVC pipe and came up with this. I made this waterer for my young birds in the pen before going out to the coop. I'll make another for the coop possibly with the pipe coming through the side of the coop to fill it. When I finished I hung it then took about half the flock and held them under the nipple and bumped their beaks up on the nipple to make some drops of water come out. I came back an hour later and watched for awhile and I spotted about 1/3 of the flock using the nipples to drink so I guess it's working. Also, today it was half empty and the wood chips under the nipples were wet.

I placed the nipples on an offset angle. Not straight down. I'm not sure this was a good thing or not. Also, I put a PVC plug in the "T" at the top middle that pulls out for filling. I can simply pick the whole thing up and take it to the hose outside to fill. I broke off the tabs on the PVC hooks that would normally hold it in place if it were in a house as I wanted it to be easy to simply lift off the hooks. The whole thing is about 36" wide and is made of 2" pipe.

Do you guys have any advice, both good and bad regarding this setup?

Most of mine drip, whether they are off-set or straight.

I am just putting some together today for my brooder, otherwise all of mine are outside and don't really drip that much.

Your chicks messing around with the nipples might actually have caused a lot of the wetness, especially since they are just figuring them out.

Hook up a 5 gal. bucket or larger tank to your pipe for more volume. Put your nipples straight down to stop them from leaking.
