After the mishap with my other brooder and quail babies i decided to build a different style brooder to prevent the same scenerio from happening again, so here is my new brooder!! It is recycled plywood from another project i made for my kids school, so atleast the wood is going to good use!!
It is 6' long, 2' wide and 12" deep. It has plywood floors, sides and tops, except for the center of the brooder, which is 1/2" wire to keep things clean and prevent dampness from spilled water, and it keeps positive airflow, not the drafty kind! Each "section" of the brooder is 2' x 2'.
With all the lids on. The center lid is on hinges, the other two lids are held in place with cleats under the lid, with a hole cut in the top for the heat lamp.
With the center lid open and two side lids on.
With all lids off!
