It looks perfect! I love the idea that you recycled things to make your coop and I am jealous of your nest boxes...being outside the coop, it's great.. I love your fuzzy math!! LOL
Looks shmancy! Especially the back, where you collect the eggs. All those hinges... I could never keep track, I just hammer and hold stuff when I'm told.
Way to go on all that recycling! And I love the rooster, of course.
I think the goal netting is a really good idea: the girls can still have sunshine and no hawks. I bet the gardenias do smell good! I walked by a bush in full flower at Lowes the other day and thought I was going to pass out, it was such a wonderful smell! Lucky chickens to have such nice landscaping.
smom1976...wow it looks great...love the netting...I think it would not show up as much if it were darker...mabey you could dye it darker(I think a garbage can may hold it) I was thinking on this and found big fishing nets(nice string ones) for a couple bucks online..but may check with local soccor league for discards...thanks for the idea!!
My husband and I run the church soccer league.. we do two seasons on each net usually with at least 250 kids per season.. I will not post as much when that is going on.. LOL .. but yes I thought about dying it too..
those nest boxes ... I just kept adding to them .. I started with a board on the bottom.. then added and added and it turned out ok.. then I built the back adding studs where I knew there would be hinges..
as for the deep litter methood.. well I will just add sand and rake as needed.. so far it only smelled when it rained the other day.. other than that no smell what so ever.. only the wet poo smells..
you can see in one of the pics that we recycled a good portion of the fence too.. after hurricaine Ivan we went around and got the fence lumber that people collected ins money on and threw out the old..
No such luck on the pergola.. the 2x6's are harder to come by..
