So some background on my neighborhood. Everyone knows everyone!!! I am not even joking, we know who lives in which house and the lawn ornaments...or in my case the chicken coop. Somehow my new ducks, that I got on friday, got out of the yard when I was gone. I was outside with them all day and they didn't leave the backyard so I figured, my mistake

, that they would be fine. When I got back they were gone. I looked up and down the block, under the house. I couldn't find them. Went to the store across the street and the owner said he saw a group of kids rounding up 3 ducks and putting them in this black F150. In this few minutes something killed one of my banty chicks!! Literally minutes.

After dealing with that horrible issue I concentrated on something I could kind of control. So I called around and got ahold of Kid#1 and he told me that he told Kid#2,(who loaded the ducks in the truck) that he thought they were my ducks. (Then why did you let them take them?!

) So I went to Kid#2 apartment and his girlfriend said he went with the people to cut wood and they were going to have to bring him back. Well I was not going to wait around for that, I did some more research and got a roundabout area of where these people lived. My MIL and I drove all over the woods looking for this house, heard these people were "odd". I had a suspicion about one house kind of out in the distance with a black F150 parked in the driveway. When we reached it there was a big gate and I was not going to get charged for trespassing so we sat and waited for someone to come out. No one came. It started getting dark so we went home. I walked over to the store again hoping they had a phone number and lo and behold they did. I called and left a message. Nice but firm, "you have my ducks I want them back" kind of thing. My BF got home from fishing and was upset about the chick but even more upset about the ducks. But wait, he knows the people and says they are not "sober" people, if you get my drift. So there may be problems. Ugh I am just so irritated that neighbors would just let things like this happen. I watch out for my neighbors property when they are not home and I would expect the same. I had to vent,

OMG!! That is just insane!! What kind of people would do such a thing! Oh wait..the non "sober" kind...that usually think the world "owes them" and so taking whatever they want is their way of getting it. I, too, have known (past tense) people like this. It can definitely get ugly. I'd definitely get ahold of a neighbor/witness who knows that the scovies belong to you and get a local law enforcement officer to go to their property and reclaim your babies if you are worried about your safety. If it were me, I'd go right on up, Trespassing be darn, and flatly take back what is mine. If they were to say something to me..well, they sure don't have a problem doing that sort of thing to others so they shouldn't have a problem with others doing the same to them.

Thats insane...what could possibly posses someone to walk into a persons yard and steal a somebodies ducks...it makes no sense, even for a "non-sober" individual, it escapes reason.

I wouldn't hesitate to contact the authorities, I sure hope you get your babies back in one piece.

I hope I get them back too! 2 of them aren't feathered yet and it gets cold up there where they are at!! I'm worried.....the older one was taking care of them today and hopefully will help keep them warm because you know those people don't have a light for them!!!

I am starting my phone calls tomorrow at 9 am. Going to repeat every hour until either they pick up, my ducks are returned, or the cops are called. I think 24 hours is long enough for them to be able to return them!! Ugh, and it was such a gorgeous day! Ugly evening.

You mean they made off with little unfeathered ducks!? I was thinking older, maybe fledgling ducklings...you are showing much more patience that i ever would have...poor little babies, in the hands of uneducated trouble makers who probaly don't even know what a heat lamp is or even what it means to a little unfleged duck. My heart goes out to you.

I respect how you are handling this. Honestly, I probably would have trespassed... Anything for my babies! I am praying you get your babies back! I'm so sorry for you, your ducklings, and your Banty chicks!

Thank you all for your support. I probably would have trespassed if I didn't have "Mrs. Law" with me....

Apparently the BF went to handle it because he said he would be right back that he was going to talk to Kid#2 at 9:00pm. I have been trying to finish my homework and didn't look at the clock until a few minutes ago and realized he has been gone for awhile. I walked down the street to see if he was at #2's house, nope. I think he went to get my duckies back....which stresses me out because these people are crazy!!! Hope he gets home safe and soon with three little wiggly butts!!

I got their light and bed waiting for them.

He made it home but with no duckies.

The stupid guy acted like he didn't even know what a duck was I guess. I suppose they want to try and play games. I will give them until tomorrow afternoon I guess but I have no control on what the BF does tomorrow morning.
