So I work at a farm and ranch store and all of you know we are in full blown chick season! Well I just wanted to share my goose story.....

Every Friday I pick up the babies from the post office and get them to the store. So naturally I am the first one to open up the boxes of the babies. Well a couple weeks ago I opened up a box of White Embden goslings. Now the chicks are normally very loud and stressed out the first day in the store, however one of the goslings kept running back and forth the front of the enclosure and after close examination her bill was bloody on both sides from sticking it threw the wires continuously. We put tape on the wire cage to keep her from sticking her bill threw it. However I knew better, most people don't want to buy a baby with a bloody bill. While restocking the feed isles my manager took her out of the enclosure and set her on the floor (normally the baby geese will follow whoever takes them out around the store) and the next thing I know this baby gosling is running toward me down the isle full force-wing out- slipping and sliding. She came to a stop right at my feet and stood there looking up at me. After that my manager wouldn't let me leave without her, In fact she bought her for me.

My goslings name is Lucy and she is happily living at my grandparents house with my two khaki Campbell ducks (who follow her everywhere!) I try to visit her everyday. And I can't wait till she gets older, I'm planning on buying her a walking harness and taking her around town with me to show her off.
