My Newest Blue and Splash Orpingtons

Every set of eggs I have ever hatched the first one out is ALWAYS a cockeral. seriously. I have never had a pullet hatch first.

Miss P, can you tell already from these three which are cockerals or are you assuming? Also what do you all mean when you use the term "self blue"?

They are just so cute!

They are just absolutely beautiful. I just love the Orps, I think they are about my favoirite. I would just love to have some of those beautiful colors. I am soo happy for you, they are so pretty. You just can't find any so pretty here in Arkansas. And Miss Prissy you have turned me into a yogurt fanatic now. I love your recipe so much that there is now 4 quarts in my fridge as we speak, just can't seem to stop making that delicious stuff. I even experimented and used some of the homemade as my starter and it came out just as good, so I did not even have to use the store bought to make more! Yeah!!!! Trudy

Oh, dont get me started in poodles!!!!! (excluding the standard sized ones, I love them!)

I hated those toys and mini poodles.....hubby's family has owned them and they are pet store, inbred piece of crap I've ever seen. I would say that the true breeder's or exhibitor's dogs are much better behaved and none of the neuro problems that his family has. UGH! They leave a bad taste in my mouth.....and they got the yappy that they wont shut up! Bites my daughter and nephew but not to draw blood tho. Not happy with them at all and hubby wanted to get some poodles and I said NOT! Standards or giants, not a problem, had good experience with handling them when a collie friend owned a few of them. Sweet as they can be, a big difference than the toy sized.

Off from my soap box now!

I am so glad you like the yogurt, Trudy. I am also glad you like the orps. Hopefully by fall we'll start seing some eggs to spread the wealth and beauty of these babies.

Aww, ewesheep, how sad.

My little dogs are so sweet. They are true lap dogs. If I sit down one or both are under my feet or in my lap. They never have met a starnger. We have them chipped so if someone were to get one it could be found.

Just like with roosters I do not house mean yipping dogs.

My little boy pup was 15 ounces when I brought him home. He had to be hand fed every 2 hours and kept with a supply of honey water to prevent hypoglocemic problems since he was so small. He is just a baby and is eager to please.

These are our babies -

Oh, Miss P. your poodles are precious. Thanks for the info on the self blue. interesting.
My bator stayed at 100 and a dab over this whole time, now that it is in the last three days it drops to 98 or 99, when I added a bunch of water I made sure it was hot but does the water cool the temp down as the water cools? I have no way to raise the temp on the Hova I have. Should I wrap a blanket around it?
