My Black Australorp is the sweetest chicken!! She doesn't even run when I reach in. I can hold her and pet her forever. Now the NN is a freak. have to chase him everywhere and then he starts panting.
I need to upgrade the grids I'm using as a pen. When they get on the perch now, their heads touch the top..haha

I saw some the other day that were a few wks older and the same size. They were around 9 wks old. The ones that were roos also looked much different than mine. Had big ol' combs. Mo's hasn't really changed in size compared to the rest of him.

Here he is....do ya'll still think roo?

Here's Henrietta....she's so soft too:)

Wow they've grown a lot! Henrietta is so cute! And yeah I still think Mo is a boy.

I thought I could tell the difference between my roos and hens of my australorps but now all their combs are getting bigger

Oh well...yours looks like it your is definitely a girl.

Is there a particular way your australorp likes to be petted? One of my aussie roos is such a cuttle bug but I don't know how to pet a chicken.

Pooey, I was hoping ya'll would say girl now on Mo:-( Guess I need to go ahead and build a new pen. Don't know how much longer I can keep him in what he's in now.
If I could find someone to take take my 2 OEG roos I hatched, I could use those grids to make a bigger area for Mo and his woman. But no one wants my roos yet and they are so pretty and nice. One guy that works with the hubby wanted them when he found out what breed they were but we found out what he does with roos and my babies ain't going to that!!!!

As for Henrietta, she doesn't care where you touch her. She just stands there. I can't get over how soft she is:) After I took her pic, I sat her in my lap and she stayed there. Can't let go of Mr. Mo. He's a crazy boy. He got away from me in the side yard and I thought I'd never catch him. That's the same yard my 4 ducks are in. The look on the ducks face was funny when he ran right past them..hahaha
He is a pretty boy. Not sure what color to call him but he's gonna be quite the looker, I think:)

I have 2 NN and they are the sweetest of my flock. They always want to be picked up or to ride on my shoulders or try to roost on my head

They were being attacked by the others, though, probably because of their vulnerable necks. We gave them a pen all to themselves, now

We set them on our lap or hold them with both arms and with one hand underneath them for support. Only pet the same direction as their feathers go. Some of mine like us to gently rub around their head area - some don't like that.
