Is he moving around o.k. even though slower, eating/drinking?

He's used to you handling/holding him right? The labored breathing is not from stress of being held.

Have you noticed if his comb is it's normal color or getting a bit of purple/blue tint to it?

His comb is dark red (darker than normal) and dry looking.

I just offered him some warm oatmeal and he didn’t want it. He’s tucking his head over into his neck.
He doesn’t have any congestion but his breathing is a little labored

he is moving fine. And he’s okay with me holding him (other than tainting his macho image )

I would stop feeding him the layer feed. The extra calcium is not good for roosters. Maybe give all the chickens regular pellets with oyster shell on the side.

Is his crop empty, hard, soft, full, squishy, doughy, fluid or air filled?
Can you get a photo of his poop?
