So, it sounds like someone is waggling their tongue when she gets upset and sends the warning.

She's funnie. Cracks me up. She flew out of the 10ft high fence I have the smaller chickens in and then paced, watching them. She was like, what the-- how did I get out here and the food is in there??

Hugs

How old are guineas when they start to lay? Not that I know how old she is anyway. I know she's over 6 weeks, cuz that's how long I've had her. She really hasn;t gotten much larger, so she may have been an adult by then
Hugs and thanks

They lay from May - Oct. She most likely won't lay until spring.

Guinea eggs are as good as chicken eggs.

Guinea meat is better than chicken.

From what I have experienced both through myself and others that have guinea fowl, they do not mature for eggs until they are over 1 year old. When they do lay, it is a "communal" nest. They all lay in the same nest. They are HORRID mothers and most of the young either do not hatch or die in a few days from predators. If you find a guinea fowl nest, incubate the eggs and raise the little buggers yourself.

Yours is older, the size of the horn lets you know it is not a young keet, if it is a she, she should lay this spring, mine started laying end of February - end of July, never attempted to sit on nest. If she freeranges, you will have to look for the nest, mine like to hide the nest, the only problem is they dont remember where they put it.
