My other Prairie Bluebell, is it a He or She?

So, my first Prairie Bluebell turned out to be a He. Please tell me this is a girl. It's much smaller than my Roo (they are the same age), but it has a longer tail so I'm not sure if the tail length is the breed, or if it's just a small Roo. Thoughts?

Cockerel. It has male specific feathering growing in.
Totally agree with Jed!

For lots of breeds and feather patterns, the red blotchy 'shoulders' are an early tell that you've got a cockerel.

There are some breeds where red is part of a pullet/hen pattern on or near the wings, but those are consistent patterns.

If you look up 'red pyle' chickens, or type in 'red and white easter egger hens' into Google images- you can see how red is expressed in hens with some great examples.

Hopefully you wanted at least one rooster!
