I built a outside coop that is 15x10 it has clover and grass and a couple dirt areas. i put a couple branches in for them to sit on and now have a 10 by 4 extension that I let them go into at night when i get home and all day on the week ends. Even though they are not free ranging over the whole property should i give them a supplement for what they would eat for grit or do you think they are getting enough from this size of a area?

I would always supplement grit, it's so cheap and doesn't go bad so I see no reason not to.

I assume the chickens coop inside the barn? I only see the run. By winter that run will be completely barren, FYI. ;)

agree, grass doesnt last long, if you can move the run to a new position every month you can allow the ground to recover

Yes my coop is inside. I keep adding an extension were they can travel to a new place every 2 weeks or so.
