My own predator!! UGH!!!

Sorry, have to rant a little to get it out of my system!!!

My sister just moved in with me and brought her dogs with her. I knew one of yorkie will be a problem with the chickens. However, the chickens are almost as big as she is and I've been keeping them apart.

Unfortunately, one of the chicken got out of the coop this morning(which is a first) and was killed by the yorkie.
I'm so pist off at the dog and at myself for not being careful enough

I think the chicken flew out on top of the coop. Will have to remove the tarp I have and screen it up and hopefully I will not lose anymore birds.

I feel your pain...My dog is of the instinctual species. His dad is from Iraq which they are called a Turkish Mountain Dog or aka.. Kangal mixed with English Mastiff. He made a hole at the bottom of the welded wire coop and waited from one of my hens to go though. He got her and unfortunately he didn't finish her so she was still alive when she was found. I wasn't home so my wife tried to see if she can save her (shes a vet tech) but the wounds were unrepairable so she had to put her out of her misery. She couldn't do it because shes wired to save lives not take them. Plus she got very attached to this particular hen. She went to the neighbor and he helped her out. The dog is going through some dog whisper stuff right now to prevent this from happening again. We have a slew of birds and this is the first and the last one he well ever get if she has something to do with it.

I don't have a dog but my neighbor does!! He got out and one of my chickens got out!! Thank goodness she wasn't injured. I felt the same, I was so upset with myself for not making the enclosure more predator proof. That was about 4 months ago so, so far so good!

My coops and area aviary is like a fortress now. I have netting above and bamboo stakes on the bottom. I had a coopers hawk fly low towards my Sliver Penciled Wyandottes Bantum and he was reverted. Plus I have Luna (English Mastiff) who was also alerted.
