Here's a few photos of my 26 partridge Rocks and the one "extra exotic chick", which appears to be a Dominique. The PR's look a lot like a Chipmunk made friends with a Rhode Island Red. They were on newspaper the first day, now completely on Aspen chips.

The Dominique is over near the door frame.

Tomorrow, I'll take more photos since they're now getting their wing feathers.

My PRs didn't have that chipmunk look.

BUT I had to PRs and both were WONDERFUL, and one went broody.

Yes, my chicks came from McMurray.

Here's some photos I took this morning, age now seven days. The black chick is the Dominique (my best guess at the breed of the mystery exotic chick).

The bricks are to weigh down the cardboard flap which wanted to raise up. They like to jump up on them, looks like I need to build them a roosting bar.

You can see how the wing feathers are growing, a couple are now sprouting tail feathers (barely).

My chicks at age 14 days, looking pretty good health wise, but getting scruffy as their feathers come in and the down wears out. My theory is that as the chicks get larger, the points where the down is attached get further apart adding to the thinning out of it.

My Dominique. The interesting thing is as he ages his down appears to be getting lighter, or grayer.

It's time for the weekly update on my chicks now at day 21. Man oh man, are they growing fast. Lots more feathers on just about everyone of them, except one, of the Partridge Rocks (PR). There's lots of chick down flying around now, as the feathers replace them. I have the room temp down to about 81-84º now, will lower it in a week to room temp.

A PR Cockerel, note the obviously taller comb.

This chick is the one that's so far behind everyone else, only wing feathers so far.

This is my friend, she's always wanting me to put my hand down for her to get on and go for a ride and likes to be handled. Most of them don't like that yet. There's a cockerel that will get on my hand as well, just not as often.
