An update, chicks are now five and a half weeks old (I skipped week 4, sorry) and are mostly fully feathered now and at room temp. They'll be ready to be out in their run in about two weeks I think

A couple cockerels, pretty easy to see their advanced comb development now, wattles too.

One of the three pullets that are, to say the least, very friendly. They hop up on my leg, arm, or shoulder just about every time I visit.

My Dominique cockerel is doing fine, not the friendliest, but will now hop up on my leg. Does not like to be touched much, but comes over and gets on my leg anyway.

Here we are at 4 months +, coop and run are almost finished.

They're all living outside now, mostly on my back deck and a few other sheltered places. Never buy chicks without the coop and run being complete and functional is all I have to say on the matter.

Nice chickens!!! Don't worry ours isn't on a very flat spot either, we had my father-in-law take his tractor and excavate it a bit so the coop would sit on flat land but we have the run on a slope!

I considered that. If I had a smaller coop I'd probably done that, as it is, too much dirt would have to be moved. Instead, I sank four 6"x"x8's, attached the perimeter 2x10's, cutting off the excess 6x6's. The front of the floor is about four feet in the air, requiring the construction of a ramp to the ground. That will be on the front, within the run. The people door, visible above, is outside the run, requires only one step up. I'm going to use one of the scraps of 6x6's for that.
