Since i have been using hay as their bedding...
They must just sit there and eat and eat ALL night long..

I dont feel comfortable cutting down on their pig feed.. cause i think that it has all the nutrients that they need in it..
So..heres my dilemma.. i need thick bedding for them for the winter... we have been putting in a bale of hay at a time.. and they go through that in about a week.
I know that i can use straw..but if they eat that..will they get sick?
Maybe use straw on the bottom and just some hay on top for a treat?
WHat do others use for pig bedding in the winter time?
I was thinking of getting them pig blankets..(heating pads).. but i'd need 3 of them... and i cant run that much electricity off of the extension cord...
I just cant stand the thought of them being cold outside..
They survived last winter..(their first winter outside..) but they looked rough come spring time..

I don't have pot belly pigs nor have I but we used straw for our pigs when got too cold and I did not notice it being eaten. If really cold we used one heat lamp too but one pig and in a shelter not very big.

I give our little pig empty feed bags, I just gave her 3 today. She makes her own bedding with them and covers up the door to her pighouse.

I use straw bales for wind blocks and straw for bedding. They move the straw around to make a nice beds. I also give them some blankets which they use as covers. Mine do not eat the straw.
