My peeps don't like me....6 weeks old approximately

I had the same problem - high expectations for non-snuggly creatures. Food treats helped, as did being quiet and still (and holding food). Also, once they started laying they really calmed down.

I get mealworms from out local "Birds Unlimited" store. 500 for appr. 7.00 dollars. Some people grow them....but it takes time for that which I don't have....so, I buy them. Good Luck!

i give mine some chicken junk food and yeah they love me from the moment they figure out they can eat it. its usually crumbled bread or lettuce. i even give them crumbled corn chips. they love them

we put a huge log in our run. i go out there and sit on it every day and talk with them at their level. i also give them treats of sunflower seeds and cracked corn while i am out there. they love it.

They seem to be very much like real children.

As chicks, they seem to like to snuggle more and want/need you. But then they hit that age (I think mine are just starting into it a little bit at about 5 weeks) when they start to distance themselves a bit. With my son, that started when he was about 10 (wasn't cool for mom to be showing attention when friends were around). But then (from what I've read), they come back to you and are "affectionate" again when they're a little older and settled. My boy is almost 17, and is just now seeming okay about being around mom w/his friends.
But, like real kids, some are more independent from the get-go, and some are more affectionate. And, like real kids, they seem to like you more when you have treats or gifts for them...lol.
