My pet chicken.com Review

I ordered hatching eggs from them this past summer; I needed eggs ASAP and didn't care what I kind I got, so I just ordered their cheapest assortment. Out of six eggs, I ended up with three live chicks (1 egg wasn't fertile, 1 was broken by the hen, and 1 died during hatching), only one of which was a rooster. I was very happy with those numbers! Additionally, for a whopping $20 (including shipping), I ended up with an Olive Egger pullet, a Lemon Cuckoo Niederheinner pullet, and a mystery cockerel. Not a bad deal at all! The LCN pullet alone was worth more than twice what I paid for all six eggs!

Love them! I have ordered all my chickens there, only once did I buy just a couple from a local store because MPC was out of the breeds I wanted. I Haven't had luck with the eggs tho, sadly. I spent $100 on eggs, 2 different batches and out of 17 eggs, I only had 2 hatch. Pretty expensive chicks But have a really cute Blue EE frizzle Roo and a silky cross something or other that's cute. But I love them. I have also gotten the sexed bantams and I love their guarantee on both sexing and deaths. I have never gotten more than I ordered but I have gotten complete refunds on wrong sexed chicks as well as chicks that died within 48 hrs.

I read that as Lemon Headed Ninneyhammer. I'm a little tardy to the party but I wanted to share my little haha

They're website says they're in Monroe Ct, which the only thing about that that sucks is that I'm in CT and would love to pickup and save the shipping cost. That said, my flock is currently a mix of where ever Agway was getting their chicks and Meyers. I've been thinking about using MPC when I get chicks or eggs next year. I know what I want, but I don't know how I want to go about getting it. LOL.

Their headquarters are in Connecticut, their chicks are shipped out of Ohio. They share space with Meyers hatchery, so a long drive to pick them up for you.

Doesn't mypetchicken use hatcheries from all over for chicks?

From what I am told by them they rent warehouse space from Meyers and their chicks come from there. Their hatching eggs come from all over.

They also have their own breeding facilities, so they are more than just a drop shipment place. Alex, from MPC, was explaining all of that here on BYC a couple of years ago. I love their customer service and the ease of using their website. If I ever get more chickens.......

It annoys me when people call MPC a drop shipper. I haven't seen Alex around in a long while, have you?

I had really good luck with their shipped eggs, too. They sent 14 and 13 were fertile, in November, too. One I accidentally broke, but ten of the remaining eggs hatched, so that’s 10/14 for shipped eggs! I got six different breeds in my assortment, which was super cool. I did have an issue with shipping, but customer service was good and they were happy to accept my suggestion of a later shipment date to suit my needs
