I've had my vegetables (onions, carrots, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and pumpkin) in for about a month. They're all doing really well, and I'm super proud -- this is my first garden as a grown-up, rather than helping my parents muck around with them. My husband is kind of apathetic but was willing to let me give it a go, in hopes that it would at least make it easier to have fresh produce on hand, rather than running out to the store twice a week.
When i started talking flowers though, he just shut down. He didn't see the 'point'. I complained and nagged and poked at him until he finally went from 'but whyyyyyyy?' to 'will you leave me alone if we go get them now?' . I said yes of course and off we went. 120.00 later, I've got potting soil, peat moss and a lot of flowers. I'm really, really looking forward to getting these guys in the ground.
We have begonias, moss roses, azaleas, and roses. Nothing fancy. Just pretty plants that will do well in various locations around our place. ...And none of them anywhere near where the chickens can get to, of course! LOL
