I finally finished repurposing my daughters' playhouse, and I'm pretty happy with it! Here are some pics. . .









I built both ladders and I've subsequently filled the entire ground inside the house with sand. I also added another 1" x 2" to the side of the perch that they are pictured standing on.
Also, here are some pictures of what I did on the outside perimeter, to prevent predators from digging under at the walls. . . I scoured Lowe's for something I could use. I came across heavy duty vinyl-coated metal gutter guard. It was perfect--there's a lip meant for clasping onto the gutter edge that I used to screw through and into the house. I then covered it all with mulch. The great thing about this playhouse is that it is hollow-walled, so any screw that I screwed into it did not penetrate the interior wall, keeping it water tight! I must have screwed over 100 screws into the thing for various things--from the hardware cloth to the perches, to the gutter guard, to the door lock.
