I got my chicks yesterday. But, my poor babies were cold last night. I was hoping that by enclosing my brooder as much as possible and hanging my lamp quite low they would be OK. They were all huddled under the lamp all night. It is only a 100W red lamp so, I am heading out to buy a 250 the minute I am done work today (thankfully I only work half days. On a normal day I would have been able to call in late but, I had nobody to cover today!)

I Feel HORRIBLE! I should have gone and returned the 100W my hubby bought. I was thinking I might need a larger wattage. I should have planned better! I hope all will be well when I get home. I was up all night checking on them nearly every hour and actually cuddling them now and then!

They'll probably be okay, but I would be on the lookout for pasty butt. I'm not sure what causes it, but usually when the chicks are stressed it seems to form.
Good luck and don't beat yourself up too much! [IMG]
