I recently bought some chickies from the local feed and farm store. My poor cornish crosses have this bulge coming from the neck area. If you are looking at them it looks like a lump sitting on their shoulder. The other day I was touching it to see it it was hard or what. I touched it and some was hard but the top half of it was almost like a balloon. It felt like air was in it. The chicks didn't make any noise when I did it so I don't think they were in pain from me poking them. What is that? How do I get rid of it? I really love the site by the way. Very useful to newbies (like myself).

Are you talking about their crop? Cornish crosses eat a lot of food so I imagine that their crops would get even more enlarged than a regular chicks.

It sounds like a full crop to me.

No, it's where the food goes first when they eat it. It's perfectly normal and should go down when they sleep at night.
