Brittany Baron, a 1 year old avid layer of delicious brown eggs, suddenly passed away over the weekend.

No visible symptoms, ample food water & shade, warmer temps than normal.

Less than 1 week ago she had a visit from 5 of the orphans from her orphanage. All of the orphans seem healthy and have been healthy since day 1, but perhaps they carried some disease she was not immune to. Perhaps it was something in the water. Perhaps it was carried in by a rat or mouse that had come over for dinner. Perhaps she simply missed her fox-eaten sister SO MUCH she couldn't stand to live any longer.

Rest In Peace, Brittany Baron. Your legacy, the Baron Orphanage, lives on. Thank you for your life's work.

I'm sorry, Brittany.

So sorry for the loss of Brittany Baron :hugs and her sister that you lost to the fox. Sometimes you just do lose chickens for unknown reasons like you lose Brittany, the production breeds that are such good layers do seem to be more prone to fast deaths due to reproductive issues.

And sorry it is under such circumstances, but Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC!
