Gertrude will not make it, I am VERY sorry to say.

I think we may just have to euthanize her at a vet because nobody in my family will do it.
It was a neurological problem that she had developed after a bad injury.

I am so sorry that you have to do this....my heart goes out to you and your family. Don't feel bad that you have to take her to the vet for......I think alot of us here would have to do the same thing [me being one of them] LOL

So sorry for your loss. I'm sorry all your valiant effort didn't help.

I am just having a few minor issues with my flock of 2 months and am starting to face teh fact that being a chicken momma isn't going to be ALL fun and games. I dread times like what you are going through, but am trying to face that they will happen at some point.

Yes. Wise words. She's alive still....but her quality of life right now is so poor, I just can't imagine a human living like that. I wish she would just go the natural way, but she's such a fighter, I don't think she will. She smells already deceased, though. I am so sad that this had to happen. I just wish I could help her go a painless way but all the others are so un-humane! Oh well. I guess my dad's just going to have to snap her neck, the poor guy. He doesn't want to, though. I am very sad and mourning her already. Thank you guys for all your support. I guess I'll just bury her in a nice place afterwards.

Thank you all for your sympathy. It's very hard. I really don't have much closure yet though.
