I got this beautiful roo about 2-1/2 months ago, and 6 weeks after he arrived, he started this rattly wheezing sound.
He's never gone off feed or water, has been chasing the hens around, and has been otherwise healthy looking, except for this rattle.

A couple days after I noticed it, I gave him meds (antibiotics in the water) for a few days, and no change, so I gave him a shot of Tylan 50 down his throat for another few days, and still no help.

I got some Flubenvet, and treated the whole flock with that, as I thought maybe he had gapeworm..still no help.

I bought some Oxine AH, and have been putting it in their water, as well as using it in a humidifier every night in their coop.

It seems to kind've come and go, he'll be not bad for a few days, then it will come back with a vengence.

In the last couple of days he's now sounding like he's got laryngitis and losing his voice, and his breathing seems more labored than ever. He sounds like he's about to choke to death.

We started Tylan 50 injections, plus antibiotics in the drinking water, but I'm not holding out much hope of a recovery.
I am so upset! I've been reading all of the posts and threads about similar symptoms, and trying all the information I can, but it's getting me nowhere!

I guess I'm hoping that someone out there can throw me something that I've not tried. I so don't want to lose him!

I think you should start by only giving him one med at a time. Antibiotic usage is not to be undertaken lightly. The Tylan should be good enough. If he is not responding to that then I would recommend a trip to the vet.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response. I tried these various things over a period of time, but he didn't respond to any of it.
He finally got so bad we had to put him to sleep. It was the best thing for him. I didn't want him to suffer any longer.
