We just adopted a handsome sweet rooster last week. He somehow got his foot caught in the netting of our fence and we found him hanging by his leg this morning. He doesn't seem to be in pain but he won't walk on the leg. Any suggestions??

A lot would depend on how long he was hanging, and if he struggled much trying to free himself. If you can see a vet for xrays, it might ease your mind. He could have suffered a sprain or suffered nerve damage. How is he walking and standing? Does he hold the leg up or try to put weight on it? I would be inclined to confine him to a dog crate or small pen to rest the leg near food and water for a few days to a week to rest the leg and see if it improves.

Im not sure how long the poor thing was like that. We found him early this morning. He won't stand on it and he isn't walking. I'm going to confine him for a bit and see how he does...

I think it might be :(
I'm a surgeon and would be comfortable splinting a clean break...but i'm not sure if he just dislocated the leg. Not the same as a person leg...
I would X-ray his leg and hip
I would get an xray of his hip and leg if possible. My regular dog vet probably would do it as a favor to me. Meloxicam is an anti-inflammatory drug that would help his pain. This link below may be helpful with pics of the skeleton and splinting:
