Ok so I’m not sure if this is the right thread since I’m like 98% sure of the sex. But this is Logan Leonardo Ludwig van lighting linguine III. Ignore the name.
Here’s some pictures but they aren’t great quality

I got him as a straight run chick and expected him to be a boy, but as time went on he wasn’t really showing signs of being a boy by the time my other rooster did, however they are different breeds so that was a poor assumption on my part.
Anyways I thought for sure he was a girl up until about a week and a half ago when his comb started turning rapidly red and getting bigger. His tail is also quite long. Compared to all the other chicks I got with him, he’s the only one who’s done this. He’s a sultan, born mid July. He hasn’t crowed yet.

I have one other rooster in my flock which makes me worried. He’s a bantam Cochin, and super sweet. I guess now that Logan Leonardo Ludwig van lighting linguine III has decided to be a boy I know have 2 roosters to a flock of 9 hens. So I will have to get some more hens.
But what I’m most worried about is the boys fighting, and my sultan turning mean.

I feel like after 5 years I should know more about this but is there some ways I can help prevent my sultan form becoming people aggressive? I’ve heard not picking them up and cuddling them is a good idea (this is so sad 😭)

My Cochin boy will be moved into his own coop with some bantam girls I’ll be ordering this summer, but I have to save up and redo my current chicken run before that, as I’ve just had too many losses over the years with free ranging and want to switch all my birds to runs, which will be expensive but I think worth it in the long run.

Yes, he does look like a male to me.

Sultans are pretty docile, and Cochins can be, too. They may get along just fine.

You have 9 females between them, and for these breeds I think that could work. It's a wait and see kind of thing, in my opinion. Don't assume the worst, but stay watchful and be prepared just in case.

You can still pick up and pet him. If he's going to turn mean that won't play into it. I used to believe it did, but further experience has changed my mind. But as I said, this is not an aggressive breed, normally.

I advise against letting any crested breed free range. They are very vulnerable.

The Sultan Bantam I had turned into a nightmare meanie toward peopl and was difficult to remove because the breed was too exotic. If he gets along with your Cochin and they're raised together from chicks, it shouldn't be an issue.
