My EE pullets are acting strange. Kind of moaning and huddled in the corners of their coop. They are in and out of their nest boxes. I haven't noticed any squatting at all. They're 22 weeks old. Do you think they are going to start laying soon?

Mine did that for a few weeks before they started laying. I have 6 and. 4 of them have been laying for the past couple of weeks. 2 of them are still just acting like they are ready but not producing. I'm new to chickens though so hopefully someone who knows more about it will reply.

If they seem healthy in other ways - eating and drinking as per usual, not lethargic, not hunched up or fluffed up in the feathers, then I would say your first eggs are probably not far off.

My girls did a lot of nest hopping before they started to lay, and they were quite vocal - lots of squawking and screaming, lots of pacing around, and generally just anxious-looking.

Good luck! Shouldn't be long now.
