Hi there,

Two of my pullets have finally laid, after having them for a month now.

But, husband found them underneath the roosting bars of our eglu classic early this morning. (I hadn't thought of looking there yesterday).

Both eggs found were very thin and broken.

I am guessing this is normal for first time laying? They mostly forage in the garden and they have been eating layers pellets since I have had them.

I am just about to go out to find some oyster shell for them.

Is there anything else I need to do?
And when I can expect eggs to become hard?

Thank you so much!

That is perfectly normal for a pullet just starting to lay.
One EE and my RIR each started out with a shell-less egg. The next three eggs were perfect for my EE. Then she laid another shell-less and has been normal ever since.
The RIR never did it again.
Definitely offer the oyster shell.
