My quail pens

Here is a couple shots of my quail pens I got set back up. Pics are not the best but they show the setup. Pens are 2x2x1.5 the white tube is my auto water system just got to hook a bucket to it and put a valve on the other end. I also plan on putting some rope lights in the corner of the tin and cage.

This is the way I had them before and worked out well. One cock to 4 to 5 hens x 6 pens = to many eggs

Very utilitarian. Do they have dust baths available?

@Chickem707, is there hardware cloth over that chicken wire? If not, something is going to eat them. Chicken wire is only sufficient to contain chickens, not keep out predators. And that gap under the door is going to let all kinds of trouble in.

Looks nice. Corturnex is not really a flighty bird they are more of a ground type. I have mine so there cocks are separated and have 3 to 4 hems per. Keeps the fighting down to nothing.

You shouldn't withhold enrichment from your birds because they aren't laying. A dust bath is literally a pan with some dirt in it, it costs basically nothing. It provides enrichment, which reduces stress, and helps to keep them healthy and parasite-free.

Yeah I use natural dried leaves, I have soooo many trees on the property so I toss in a lot of leaves for bedding sometimes and even branches, it keeps their feet cleaner and they can hunt for bugs on the leaves plus they make nests and dust bath on the leaves lol

The leaves are mixed with normal bedding shavings and as they break up it makes good “dusting” I guess I dunno but they love it. Yesterday when I cleaned them all I just added new leaves and they were so happy laying in the sun patches lol so cute.

I also keep a handful of hens per roo- omg I get sooooo many eggs holy cow. And they are ALL fertile as I’ve done quite a few batches and get 95-100% hatch but all end up developing and I sometimes get one who doesn’t make it out.

They screw like rabbits LOL I just LOVE QUAIL.
