I was Air Force as well, joined a bit later than you and retired in 92. I bought the farm when I was 56, so as Sour has said, no time like the present to find that forever home and get started. Enjoy your adventure.
 
Hi Joe. Welcome to BYC! I decided that I wanted to retire and raise vegetables and fruit and chickens. So I bought a house with a little more than 1/2 acre and then I retired. If it's what you really want to do, then just do it! It's a lot of work, but so worth it. Good luck! (the chickens are on the other side of the yard)
