My Rabbit just attacked me!

Oh, please consider going ahead and making her that run. ( I have a very aggressive doe too) You'll find that rabbits love to run and jump and play, and generally get their energy out. She'll be happier than in a wire hutch. Sorry that happened to you, I do sympathize, my doe oinks loudly like a pig if she is ever even touched.

Good on you, facing your fears.

I've had this happen to me too, except I got in between a buck and a doe whom I was under the impression was NOT pregnant. She rather violently attacked the buck, then went after me when I came to the poor guys rescue.

She ended up being not only the best mother I ever kept, but the second sweetest doe. I messed with her a lot after that, petted her head, hand fed her treats, etc.

I'll put a bit more up on aggression, how to deal with it, spaying and neutering, and safely checking for pregnancy later. I have done a lot with rabbits, and am currently breeding. I gotta run at the moment :p

It is very very common for does to be aggressive at times. It's hormones, and it's instinctive. It hasn't been bred into them, it's just natural survival behavior. (Sometimes I have this problem too, ha ha ha! Watch out!) I've worked with dozens of rabbits and it's always the does that really got us! I've had my hand absolutely shredded by growling grunting does. Heh. (And I have never been attacked by a buck. There are aggressive bucks out there, but I've never met one!)

If they're just pets, spaying or neutering a rabbit makes a huuuuuge difference. Night and day. Fixed bunnies are almost always sweeties.

If they're for breeding, it's something you'll have to deal with. With some rabbits you may even need to wear gloves. With one doe we had, I set up her hutch and run so we could do everything from outside when she was in a mood. *rolls eyes* Her name was Almond BunBun but we usually called her "Killer Bunny".

I'm convinced the rabbit from Monty Python is a doe.
