My rabbit kindled!!! It's my first experience with a litter, any suggestions? *Pics coming soon*

Help !! I got a rabbit about 3 weeks ago and was not aware it was a female until yesterday, when I found a dead baby bunny in her water bowl :( I'm not sure if it was born dead or if it die afterwards. But it was only one, and she is still eating a lot and she bled a tiny bit in her cage. So I'm confused. Could she still be pregnant with more ?

Are you still into bunnies?
This spring, I have my first mama rabbit since I was 12.
Before I got her, I watched youtube videos, and one showed a
bunny who had her kits buried, instead of in a pen. I'd never seen
this before. When I got her, I let her run around, and lo and behold,
she has dug below the coop. She's a free-ranging sweet bunny, and the
lady who gave her to me bred her before I got her. Bunnies on the way.
I hope she can survive this!! And I hope they survive too. (neighborhood cats)
I've been putting her in her little dog crate at night, but let her roam during the day.
I'm wondering if she's going to sleep in the hole when she has them...??

Our Minirex doe is young. 5 months- and we noticed she was exhibiting pregnant behavior at the beginning of July. She built a. Ext with gay but no fur. On Wednesday we found one kit in her litter box. It was cold and she didn't give it any attention all day and by morning it had died. She is still huge and it feels like she has more kits in her belly. She just lays on her side and eats everything we give her. Could she have more kits? I have read so many things I just don't know what is the right thing to do next.

The best thing to have done would have been to separate her from all male rabbits when she was 8 to 10 weeks old, and not bred her before she was at least 6 months old. Since that isn't what happened, the next best thing is to get her away from them now. If you have a male, put him in a separate cage.

One of the main reasons rabbit breeders keep the sexes separate, is because the rabbit has a weird reproductive system. The uterus is v-shaped, and it is possible for a doe to get pregnant on one side only, and start another litter on the other side at some later date if a buck has access to her. Most does refuse the buck when they are pregnant, but it can happen.

So yes, it is possible that your doe might be carrying a second litter that are due some time soon. If she is still living with a buck, she is almost certainly pregnant with a litter that are due about 31 days after that first baby was born. This is another reason why breeders don't keep bucks and does together - does will rebreed immediately after kindling, and cranking out a litter of kits once a month goes really hard on the doe.

Thank you- they have been separated since July 7. Is it possible that the first pregnancy she only had one kit and the second pregnancy will have more? We wanted babies and thought we researched it enough. Our vet didn't even know they could have two pregnancies. So should i just treat her like she is pregnant and give her until mid-August? Should we move her inside? We are in Houston but she is on a covered back porch with fans and no sun.
