My husband remodeled, renovated or what ever it's called our coop. He moved the entrance door, built a covered run and build roo runs on the outside along the coop for when we don't need fertile eggs. They can prevent anything from burrowing under the coop wall and getting to the hens. You cna't see them because he used an old fence for the wall. It has fairly large spaces and he covered the entire run with chicken mesh. He put a roost on each side that is covered. In the winter they will either go in with the hens or we'll give them both a light becaue they will need to be covered to protect them from the cold.

We planted a flower bed next to the door, then flowers all around the run. In winter the coop itself will be covered where the openings are and where the door was that is now their door and has mesh over it will be covered to just a small area so they can go in and out as they please. He will also build another nesting shelf for the new hens. They aren't laying yet. He painted on sealer n the roof and repaired the places from the limbs falling and doing damage in the storms and high winds we had been having.

The roos where not happy about their arrangements. Can's say as I blame them but they are very aggressive with the girls and we put young ones in and the roos had to come out. And the girls needed a break from them too. The plastic tubs are their food containers. There is a shelf build for the big one and we still need to extend that to put the roos food on it too. Right now it sits on one of the roos roofs. They are in the coolest shaded area we have in our hard because it gets so hot here they need to be out of the sun. The orange cord is for a Florescent light we have in the coop. It is disconnected at the time.

Ok, Here are the pics

I took them just as it was getting dark. I'll get some more tomorrow it it isn't raining. We have had so much rain here that everything is muddy. It took us about a week to complete it because we had to do it between rains. WE changed our minds a few times and then we didn't know what to do with the roosters becaue they where coming out. We got to see what the poor hens where going through. If those roos where humans they would be in prison for aggrivated rape and assult.

After they where taken out the hens seemd to have a sigh of releif. Now they are fighting for dominance. At least they aren't as aggressive as the roos. Anyway. We still need to paint it. Everything except the wire was either barnwood or scaps from my husbands work. The fencing for the roos run is from the old fencing he took down from in front of our home.

when it gets cold we will cover the openings of the coop and plug up the light. They will have a small opening to go n and out of the run though.

Yes i know about the rain we are in south Alabama .
The roosters we don't need go for food to our show dogs(Papillons) or to the auction .
Will be looking for your pics . Thanks
