My RIR are hatching in the incubator hmm!! wait a black RIR??

One of the RIR eggs I got off ebay just hatched do they change colors because this little fellow is as black as can be.Do you think I got something other than I ordered or do they come in black??

LOL, no they do NOT come in black! Methinks there was a slipup somewhere.

A lot of new chicks look dark when they're born. I just had a light blue/grey silkie that looked black when he/she was born and now it's a very light color. It might be a dark red RIR if it just popped out.

Maybe, but even the dark RIRs start out life as light reddish colors. My very dark RIR pullet had alot of white on her as a chick. Wait till its completely dry then tell us if it's really, really black. Wouldn't be the first time a mistake was made in sending hatching eggs, LOL!

My RIR's hatch dark but they are not black. If it is black then you a mix up.
Here are some day olds I hatched a month ago. They are in with Black and Blue Orps

You have a mystery chick there. Doesn't even have RIR yellow legs. A mix or a different breed. Good luck with the rest of your hatch.

Definitely NOT a RIR is all I know.
