Finally finished the rollout nest box.

Eggs drop from the hen and go into a collection box out of reach of the hen. I'll add a curtain that will make it so the eggs are completely out of her view upon laying.

are you putting some kind of bedding in those boxes? will they still roll with the bedding?
is the part where you collect the eggs covered until you go to pick the eggs? might be a bit too drafty if not.

No nesting material. Rollouts don't use that. The collection area is accessed by opening an insulated door. No drafts.

Mine are 9 weeks old at the moment, and I just opened it up to them last night, so they don't use it yet. I saw no signs of them getting into it this morning. Time will tell.
