My roo and I just had a fight - what to do

Luke13:34 :

My roo and I just had a fight - what to do

Rooster should send chocolates and apologize. If not.. get Dr. Phil involved so that he talks about HIS feelings. Use "I feel" statements.

X3!

I've read on here to catch him & hold him under your arm like a football. If he fights, be persistant. Only let him down when he is NOT struggling.
I started this with my roo BEFORE he tried anything. He has never come at me in an aggressive manner. Coincidence? Or did I just get a really good roo?
Who knows; I know I don't have any problems with him.

I personally will not keep a rooster that wants to fight. I had to dispose of one last week. My 11 yr old son loves to feed the chickens and one day for no reason the white leghorn singled him out and went after him. He could be walking out in the field and out of nowhere here he would come and chase my son down. Well he did it one time too many and needless to say we had fried chicken. My other rooster has never attempted to do anything and actually likes to hang around us and see what we are doing when we are in the barn.

you guys are funny!!

Like mentioned before do not let your guard down for a second when you go in there to collect eggs or work....he will challenge you again, for now you won the battle.

the lady ont he next street over has many chickens and several roosters, ok when I say lots I mean she has a flock of about 400, anyhow she has a straw broom handy and the first time a roo challenges her she uses it, not to hit him, but shoo him away, she told me that when the roo tried to challenge her she sweeps it at the roo and they don't like it, after several encounters they usually know to knock it off. She told me she barely ever has issues, the only issues only arise with a new roo she hatched that is coming of age. I am trying to get a roo from her and I did ask her how she keeps her roos so docile, she laughed, said that once they meet mr. broom they behave quite well. lol....

She only ever encountered one roo that would not give up, and was picking fights with other flock members and including a goose. She didn't want to re-home him because he was aggressive so she turned him into soup...

My rooster has always attacked my boots. I thought it was because they are black and fuzzy like a wild animal, but now that he is turning 1yo, he has started attacking my 19mo old daughter and knocking her down. Fortunately she is bundled up in a huge snowsuit when outside! He is getting progressively more aggressive with me and I never let him win, even if he's just after my boots, but he comes right back at me every time I put him down now. It's sad because he is a gorgeous supposedly ameracauna boy, but he definitely has to go before he hurts my little girl.

I would not tolerate an attacking rooster around a toddler. If you really really really like this rooster, try my Handling Rooster Aggression page. If that fails or if you would prefer definite closure, then sell or eat the rooster.
