My roo is angry, suddenly and attacking! What to do!

LOL at everyone's stories and responses!

I definitely have an angry roo on my hands. Honestly, I think it might be because I remodeled his coop this weekend! I made some upgrades and gave it a facelift (which required the chickens being out of the coop all day) and I think it ticked him off. The next two mornings my sweet, sweet boy began chasing me when he sees me and going for my ankles!

I'm going to snatch his *** up tonight and show him who's boss! Too funny to find out that they can suddenly have an attitude problem! You'd think he'd be grateful for the upgrades!

Snatch his butt up in a fishing net and carry him around that way. They flat out hate being scooped up. I mention this in spite of the fact that I really prefer crockpotting human aggressive roosters.

I normally snatch him up all the time! He's used to being handled (we've had him since he was 1 day old). He's (normally) the sweetest boy - even hops up on my lap and just chills when I have my coffee in the morning, enjoying the petting.

Maybe he doesn't like the color scheme the coop got painted?

I'm definitely snatching him up tonight and showing him who's boss so he gets back down to normal. The little brat!

The only other thing I've noticed is one of our ladies didn't come out of the coop today. When I went in there to check on her she came out as she normally does (this one in particular is super attached to me - she would follow me to the end of the earth!). I've never seen her NOT come out.

These stories are funny! Pinning really does seem to work on their little roosters brains a lot of the time.

I used to have a little bantam roo that I was careful to raise in a manner where he knew I was dominant, but wasn't abusive so I could still get my cuddles in. He was FIERCELY protective of his ladies, to the point where he'd challenge the broom, the bucket, the grill, and managed to chase off standard sized hens when he was just 10 weeks old. It was hysterical.

One day, I was lounging in the grass, playing with the babies, and he was doing his usual rounds of showing how manly he was by charging the big hens, charging the house, charging the plum tree, charging the Mom...... oh god wait! That little boy tried to stop in his tracks so fast that he face-planted when his little brain caught up with him as to who exactly he was charging.

I laughed so hard that I had tears coming out of my eyes. My fiance tried to sympathize with the little guy that yes I was a very scary lady, and no he didn't blame him for choosing a faceplant over a scolding from me.

Too funny!!!

The hen that was hanging in the coop more so than normal started behaving like normal again - maybe she was just HOT. (heat wave here is crazy!) Well, I went towards my roo last night on a mission! He already knew he was in trouble. I snatched him up, pinned him, put him back down, and he was transformed into the sweet boy I loved before. Even allowed himself to sit on my lap and be cuddled for a while.

This morning when I went out into the coop it was business as normal - no roo charging momma today! Let's hope he's learned his lesson and just enjoys the upgrades haha!
