Hi, for the last few days, almost a week. Splash, my silkie roo, has been coming out of the coop in the mornings chasing and pecking at the girls. And it's hard pecks, for about 3-4 minutes he will run around chasing and pecking them, then they settle down and eat. He acts normal with them the rest of the day. Just first thing in morning coming out of the coop. They are almost 9 months old. you might have read my post : FERTILE ???????????. Well, same roo. he used to come out and do his wing dance with them and then mount them. But the last 5-6 days he's been a real booger towards them. why would he suddenly decide to be sooooo mean?

That sounds like normal, hormone-surging cockerel behavior. They do seem more randy in the mornings. I went through the exact same thing with my cockbird. He calmed down as he matured. I know it looks mean, but he's just trying to figure things out. If it gets too violent separate him.

If he's actually injuring them, give him a new coop, at least for a while. If no injuries, let them work it out. He's being an adolescent idiot, and will likely settle down.
Nasty boys taste great, but this isn't to that level, at least yet.

I'm glad to hear that it's normal, with the way my luck is, I thought he had done went crazy. Thanks
