One of my roosters (Jim Beam) attacks me as I walk to the feed barn. He has been known to attack other people like our farrier (Thank goodness he has a great sense of humor) . We were wondering if it is possible and to trim his spurs? What can we do if that is not possible? We love him and he is very good at protecting his hens.
OBW they are free range.

Carry a spray bottle with water. Everytime he tries to attack, spray him a good one. If that don't work, you might have to have him fixed up for dinner and get a new roo. Some are just naturally mean. Most are not!

Try holding him alot.. Use a long sleeve an gloves she he doesn't hurt when holding him. usually after a long time of holding. an petting. they calm down. however... some dont. also heard you can carry them around under your arm for 10 minutes a day and they'll calm down. if you have the time though, hold him 30 minutes a day holding an petting him. i know a few old timers (in gamefowl) used to pay some kids 5 dollars a day to go out there and hold their roosters 30 minutes each.. and those roosters were just as calm and nice as anything..

My daughter will love that! She is the only one that he hasn't attacked. We have two roosters the 2nd one (named Pigeon) is about 30 weeks old and so far very calm we'll have to spend lots of time holding him too. Thanks!
