Hello all! My 3 year old alpha Roo had a bad case of scaly leg mites go out of control while I was undergoing cancer treatment. We started the Vaseline and ivomec treatment and his legs are looking better. However, he started limping on his left foot. Then wouldn’t use it all and hopped on his right foot. Now he doesn’t do anything at all but stand a little bit. Was VERY thirsty until today and eats everything I give him. Adding vitamin E and B electrolytes and now Tylan 50. He has been wormed as well. He now has a floppy darker comb and bright green diarrhea. I don’t know how else to treat him and am afraid he will die. If anyone has any ideas please, please let me know. I’ve tried everything I know and he’s not getting better. Thank you.

He may be dehydrated. Does he have food and water within reach? You can try making him a sling to get him upright and in front of food and water, and then take him out to rest or sleep. Have you added any new birds to your flock in recent months? Can you post any pictures of him? What type and dosage of ivermectin are you using? It has to be reapplied in 14 days.

I'm so sorry about your boy and the fact that this happened while you were undergoing cancer treatment.:hugs

It does not sound good.

He has food and water within reach. I make him eggs with applesauce or tuna and feed him those things three times a day with some greens. Yes, ivomectin has to be reapplied. No new birds. He’s in a separate coop in case he is infectious. I will take some pictures.

This is him on March 17. His comb has since flopped over and gotten darker and he sits most of the time stabilizing himself with his wings. He will stand up on his right foot for food.

This is him today. I’ll take some of his legs later. His right wing is up higher than his left for some reason.
