My Rooster Is In The Nesting Box.

This morning when I went out to the coop I saw my 1 yr old light Brahma rooster in the nesting boxes. I was very shocked and confused by what I saw. As soon as he saw me he immediately got out, but when I looked he was sitting on 3 eggs and they were pretty warm. That afternoon I saw him sitting in the boxes again and I took a picture (Sorry for the bad quality). Does anyone know why? View attachment 2499538
Hahaha I love this photo!! He’s peeping you out of the corner of his eye! 😍

He's a larger French Black Copper Marans and he weighs in at 14 pounds and is very tall. His dad and grand-da were tall and huge too. Massive legs. His dad died fighting off a fox.

Wow that’s very large, I once saw a female Cuckoo Maran pullet and it was huge I can’t imagine his size!! 14 pounds, that is incredible. His dad sounds like a very amazing and dedicated rooster.

Rooster-nesting behaviors are so much fun. Our Light Brahma will "shop" with a girl who's about to lay, leaning in to inspect different boxes, then doing a stomping, clicking dance and fluffing up the nesting material in his favorite.

The laying lady will run over to watch, but in the history of him doing this, I have never, ever seen one choose the nest he dressed for her.

It looked like he finally had it in the bag this morning. The pullet he was shopping with has a huge crush on him, and he was in one of her favorite nesting boxes. But after like 5 minutes of watching, she not only didn't choose the box he dressed; she ran out to a whole other coop to lay 🤔 Did she not want to mess up his handiwork, or do all my ladies have some kind of secret pact to mess with the rooster?
