I just got home from work and i noticed that my beloved Roo (Uncle Ted) is limping pretty badly. DH lifted him and it looks like his legs are really red and there is ONE TINY spot on his leg that has some blood but its really small. The scales don't appear lifted or anything. What do I look for to see why he is limping... why would his legs be so red???The bottom of his foot appears ok and the leg itself feels nice and solid.
here are some pictures of his legs.

The redness on his legs is normal. He doesn't look like he has bumblefoot. Maybe he just pranged his leg? Let us know how he does over the next couple of days.

Hmmmm...hopefully he just landed wrong getting off a perch or something similar. I would avoid letting him jump up onto or down off of things for at last a week (I've had to do this before and it's meant lifting my roo up to his sleeping shelf at just the right time so he doesn't do it himself, and then lift him down in the morning before he tried it himself - yes, very earlyyyyy..!). He was less stressed staying with his lady friend than if I had put him in the house though alternatively you could put him in a nice sized carrier in the same area as his buddies. For the next 2 days I would generally restrict movement - if he free ranges and is the responsible type who tries to keep up with ladies to protect them, don't allow it - at least confine all to a run.

For pain relief you can try 1 baby aspirin crushed per cup of his water (fresh batch twice daily ideally but at leats once daily)- might help take the edge off the pain so he can feel up to eating and drinking. Make sure he stays hydrated. It can take quite a while for sprain healing but if that's what it is, he should be fine in time and with these efforts.

Keep us posted.
