hes only 20 weeks old. Ok this is our first injury, and I am nervous for him. Well I don't see any cuts, scratchs no feathers missing. His toes look ok. Going to get a better look when DH gets home. But he is limping. He is eating and drinking. He can bear his weight sometimes. He limps with every step. I put a low roost in for him. Just a thick tree branch on the bottom of the run. when hes not eating or crowing hes on that. Any ideas?? What can I do for him. I know he has a bad habbit of jumping down from the roosts instead of taking the easy way. maybe just a sprain??

poor Arthur..

poor guy. Sounds like a sprain. You might want to make sure he doesnt get on the top roost for a few days. however, this is how they determine pecking order..highest pecking order, gets highest roost.

Thanks. Now hes on a dif roost. But man he is giving me an attitude. He started with his new "I am the man" strut yesterday too. Maybe he sprained it showing off for the ladies. I wish he would let me look at it closer. I guess I have to wait for someone to get home.

Ok it's been a few days, he is still limping. But it's not slowing him down at all. DH netted him for me. And I checked his foot. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. on the very bottom looked like a little liquid ball, very tiny too. Maybe a very small blister. I didn't think i should pop it so I washed it with anti-bact. soap. Benadine, and applied neosporin. This was last night. He is limping still. Should I try and pop the blister if it doesn't do it? and when??

Thanks
Ann

A little blister-like thing on the bottom of a foot might be from some kind of insect sting or bite (like he stepped on a bee, etc). I'd see if it'd pop and maybe get the stinger out (if that's what it is of course). After popping, clean it and add neosporin or whatever...though on the foot it won't stay long no matter what, heh.
