This is my first time with chickens. I have a New Hampshire red rooster. The 4 hens i got at the same time are about to lay eggs in September (I say that because I dont remember how many months old my chickens are) Anyways shouldnt he be crowing by now? He is a big hefty looking roo full grown Im sure. Do some roosters just not crow?

Nope, all roosters crow, but it sounds like he is about the same age as my Ameraucana cockerel, Scout, who is 15 weeks old, if he's the same age as your hens. Scout has only crowed twice that I know of-just started about a week ago. Some wait till they are almost mature to crow.

He just doesn't have anything to say right now. LOL Mine started crowing about 14 weeks but some take longer than others. He still doesn't crow a whole lot, just a couple crows when he sees me in the morning, he is about 17 weeks right now.
