So, I have a slightly obsessive rooster. He dances when he sees me, runs up to me, and then throws himself down, chest down, back of the body upright, head lowered. At first I thought it was aggression, and reached down to pick him up (as in Rooster Boot Camp), and he let me pick him up and relaxed instantly in my arms, making happy chicken sounds.
I do yardwork and sit down for the rock work, he comes barreling at me, "talking," screeches to a halt about two feet from me, does the same bow, until I say "Okay" and he hops in my lap, sits down, and takes a nap. Or just watches his brood.
He occasionally shows aggression--he's young, about 5 months, but ran up and scratched me and on instinct I punted him, and he hasn't done it since. I've waited with the dancing to see if he bites me afterwards, but if I don't pet him he gets bored and wanders off.
WHAT is this bowing he's doing? He has not demonstrated any sexual behavior yet. He also was raised by a school, came to us, refused to let us touch him, and then the day after we butchered the large meat rooster, he became all sorts of lovey-dovey. Help?
