My rooster laid an egg!?!

So I only have one rooster and no hens becuase my hens have all passed but I have pullet chicks but no mature hens. When I went out to the coop to give for feed there was egg! Do I have a rooster? He has a comb and everything. What?!?

Please post a picture of your "rooster." Also, how old are your pullets?

Have you heard the rooster crow before? Does he have long saddle and hackle feathers? If you could post pictures that would help! How old are the pullets? Very odd situation

He most certainly did not, he's either got you beat or you have a screw loose.

The pullets aren't even out in the coop yet so they couldn't have laid. And I will post pictures tmrw. I have yet to get him still enough for a good picture. And yes very odd!

I think one of three things are happening here.

1. Your 'rooster' is actually a hen in disguise

2. One of your pullets has jumped the fence and started laying, or

3. Someone is pulling your leg and has put an egg in the hen's nest to trick you!

A picture will help to rule out the first option.

I'd be interested to know how old your pullets are too.
