My rooster nearly ripped his spur off. Anything I can do to help him?

I'm so glad to hear Patriot got the cabin treatment and that he managed to shed the injured spur without incident. We've got a room we refer to as the 'chicken room', where momma hens with chicks go for the first couple days, or where injured birds go to heal if needed (all in crates). =) Though if it's a rooster and there's lots of crowing, they get a temporary pen, I love my roosters but not all day, early morning crowing ... inside.

Thankfully most beak injuries don't amount to permanent damage but they do seem to smart for a couple/few days afterwards. Never had one not grow back myself in the various incidents over the years, but I've seen pictures of birds on here that did break off way more than could grow back. Thanks so much for posting an update!

Me too. I was going through panic attacks and nightmares from this. I wish I could have taken care of it myself sooner, haha.

That's awesome! 😍 I usually use our cabin now, but I had one laying hen in a cage in our bathroom once. She was quiet for the most part, but I was scared my parents wouldn't be too thrilled about randomly hearing the egg song once a day. But she never sang it while in the house like she did in the henhouse. I'm glad but it was weird.

Yes, my boy wouldn't eat for days and I was a wreck. The only thing he would eat was mashed potatoes. I mixed some chick starter into the mashed potatoes and let it get soggy so he'd get some nutrition in it, haha.

Aww, that's sad. Poor birds!

Glad to do it! I wanted to do it sooner, but life is crazy busy, haha.
