MY Rooster not crowing......Please help

Quote:
I've noticed that with our boys, too! When DH gets home from work our Aussie gives him a "bark!bark!bark! glad your home Dad" kind of welcome...then the boys that crow do their thing. It's hilarious! I've noticed that whenever we have someone stop by for a visit they all crow when they show up. Told DH that they are in cahoots with the dog and that I have the best warning/welcome committee in our neighborhood!

Thats interesting that they have to "learn" to crow. I have two pullets, and one crowed a couple weeks ago, just the one morning. Thinking a rooster had come into our yard, we ran out onto the front porch, just in time to see her flapping her wings with the sunrise, with her neck extended and she crowed three times (we caught the last two!). I guess.... 1) she was feeling her cheerios, 2) she didnt know a hen isnt supposed to crow.

We also live in the city!

She hasnt done it since, but I DID threaten her with feather boa's and ribbons.

my 17 week old RIR roo hasnt made a decent crow yet... a couple squeaks which sounded like a wounded cat is about it.
I have a 5 month old ameraucana roo...man is he beautiful i will post some pics this weekend. Well he crowed this am...i had also been worried about the noise for the neighbours ( although i have 5.5 acres) but man its really not very noisy at all...considerably less volume than the noise our goats make.

Don't worry your life away! I'm sure he'll crow when he's ready. I have two 16 week old roos, a Blue laced red wyandott and a buff laced Polish. Neither have shown any signs of crowing. I'm interested to hear what they'll sound like but I refuse to worry about that or even when our 16 week old hens will start to lay(which could be soon). We may have actually gotten a first egg from one of our Red stars yesterday. This stuff will happen when it happens. Just enjoy the birds anyway.

lynne...i couldnt agree more...we dont have any eggs yet but the amount of fun my son and I have had from these birds has more than made this hobby worthwhile even with no eggs whatsoever.

My son gets to run out to his chickens and give them treats and cuddle them and they run to him...you cant buy priceless memories for a kid like that.

dcc i hear ya! my neighbors will hate me when my roosters start, i have to find new homes for em. I love hearing them crow just don't think the people around here would apprectiate it as much as me.
