I grew up with chickens but when one died, it died, or when one got sick, it was culled. Now my chickens are my pets, and my Dear Romeo is sick. I have owned Romeo for about 1 year, I do not know how old he was when I got him. He is a silkie. He has had a poopy butt for about a week now. This evening I followed him around until he pooped and it was like pure water. His comb is not very bright. This morning he crowd laying down. He is not as active as he usually is and doesn't seem his wonderful self. Can anyone please help me and give me advice on what to do for him, or what might be causing this. The last treat the chickens got was watermelon and squash. Then I noticed his poopy butt and stopped all treats to see if it would get better and obviously it hasn't. My husband and I are very worried and could use help.
Thank you

we need more information.

what all do you feed him?

has he ever been wormed?

could he have got into any fertilizer, or lawn/garden chemicals?
any motor oils?

is there a farm/feed store near you where you can get meds?

sounds like he could have coccidiosis..which must be treated right away..
with Corid or Amprolium
or Sulmet.

but do check his crop for any lumps or grainy feeling.
sounds like he is not eating.
is his comb pale?

can you take a droppings sample to a vet for a fecal float (worm and protozoa test)?

will wait for your reply to the questions.

What does Romeo eat (inc treat) >you do know that roos should not be fed layer (way too much calcium>for roos and any other non-laying age poultry offer a separate feeder with grower ration)
Here is my collected articles on POO (including the watery portion >what you are describing is called POLYURIA so look for that as a symptom):
