We have a mini Bantam rooster and hen as well as 6 barred rock plymouths. The rooster and his hen are separated from the plymouths because the big girls would pick on the little guys. They are all about a year old and my rooster started crowing late last summer/early fall. But, he hasn't crowed since sometime in March. Is this common? Is it because he's the only rooster?
My girlfriend also took some of the mini Banty's eggs to incubate and non of them hatched, so we're thinking the poor guy isn't getting any either.
He seems healthy enough. He eats well and drinks plenty of water and acts normal...he just hasn't crowed in months.
